This robust Niagara red wine leads with Merlot in the blend (60%), along with 26% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Cabernet Franc. It spent 40 months in French oak barrels. Aromas of dark fruit and toasty oak. Pair with a rare steak.

Aromas of red berries and dark fruit, raspberry jam, wet cedar, chocolate, and sweet spice.

Tart blackberry and plum flavours with notes of espresso, chocolate and peppercorn at the finish. This wine has tannins that are present but well incorporated with the body of the wine and its lively acidity.

Tasted at the Taste Ontario event in April 2019.

Wine-Food Pairing: Grilled red meat. This wine would also work with dark chocolate.

Definitely worth a trip to Niagara for a weekend. Smooth and flavourful, this wine is blended from 60% Merlot, and 20% of both Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Aromas of ripe plum, blackberry jam, some dried herb, mocha and pepper. Full bodied and smooth on the palate, with luscious ripe fruit, brighter than anticipated acidity that balances out the ripe flavours, and more spicy and slightly herbaceous notes on the finish. Enjoy with grilled pork tenderloin or portobello mushroom steaks.

I discovered this winery at the Taste Ontario event in Ottawa April 3, 2019. Their red is a nice combination of 60% merlot, 20% cabernet franc and 20% of cabernet sauvignon. I would pair it with white meats.
