Natalie's Score: 98/100 The spectacular 2011 vintage of this blockbuster Argentine red wine is a blend of 65% Malbec and 35% Cabernet Franc grown in the estate vineyards of Russell, Maipu and Los Arboles, Uco Valley, Mendoza. Iscay means two or couple representing the two grapes in the blend. The Malbec contributes juicy red fruit, structure and minerality from the Uco Valley. The Cabernet Franc fruit from the Russell Vineyard is a warmer region contributing sweet red pepper and spice. The wine is not filtered and is aged in new French oak for 12 months, then the vineyard parcels are blended and the wine is aged another 6 months in French oak. Pair with slow roasted meats or rack of lamb.

Reviews and Ratings
Caitlin Coleman rated this wine as 96/100 with the following review: Two different varietals, two different cultures, two dark grapes in combat! Smoky red fruits from the Malbec (65%), violets, green and black fruit notes from the Cabernet Franc (35%) on the nose. Juicy concentration on the palate, finesse, structure, concentration. This Icon wine lives up to its name. The nose vs. palate difference is fascinating and must be experienced.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 96/100 with the following review: This elegant, complex wine is made from a blend of 65% Malbec and 35% Cabernet Franc grapes grown in Argentina's Mendoza Valley. Beautifully aromatic with ripe red fruits, violets and spices. The rich, layered palate shows concentrated ripe red fruit, balsamic notes and silky tannins with great structure. Elegance and finesse shine throughout this spectacularly vibrant wine. Enjoy with roast lamb in mushroom sauce or hard cheeses. Tasted September 2017 with Trapiche's winemaker Sergio Case at Ottawa's Westin @venueontwentytwo.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review: An exquisite Argentinian 70/30 blend of Malbec/Cab Franc. Iscay means two, and here there is a duo of two different varietals, identities, ripening styles and cultures. Both marry well together creating this harmonious fusion. Deep purple-red in colour with aromas of plums, strawberry, blackberry, dried bay leaves, violet and a small note of eucalyptus stem. In the mouth, lots of light skinned plum, raspberry and dark cherry. Additionally, roasted red peppers really shine through with a developing heat spiciness. Dry with M+ body, tannin and finish with ripe strawberry and hints of herbs persisting. A European old world style. A delicious and refined, unfiltered blend. Incredibly good to drink now or further cellaring. Pair with spicy sausage, salami, charcuterie, duck and grilled vegetable dishes.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review: I have been collecting Iscay since the late 2000s. This is utterly stunning, with its rocky, chalky, minerally edges wrapped around a core of plum and briar fruit. There is spice and dried herbs that weave their way through this wine like veins. If you don’t believe in Argentina yet, this will give you a reason. 94 Points.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review: What a beautiful wine! This is a blend of 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Franc, vinified separately, and then blended. Each varietal spends 12 months in barrel, and then the blended wine spends another six months in barrel. This wine is unfiltered and full of sweet, svaoury and spicy notes. Aromas include dark violet, ripe red fruit and plum, and berries. There is a spicy black pepper note on the palate that mingles well with the fruit and berry flavours, and some silky, refined tannin. Overall a very elegant wine. Serve at 16 degrees Celsius with an herbed rack of lamb.
Simon Chen rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: Iscay in Inca means Number Two or Duo, and this is why all the wines in this series are blends of 2 grape varietals. This one is an interesting blend of Malbec (70%) and Cab Franc (30%). It's more refined and elegant as the cab franc brings a good vegetale and freshness to the heavy Malbec. It also adds more acidity and dry tannin to the wine.
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: A blend of 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet with deep red colour with a layered aroma of red cherries, plums, violets, mint, and spices. Great structure, balanced, and smooth tannins. Score 91. (S.Segard, reviewed Sept 15, 2017)
