Natalie's Score: 95/100 The joke in the name is that this wine is imperfect because it has 3% Cabernet Franc ... 100% Malbec would be perfecto, according to the winemaker, such is the devotion to the country's flagship grape. However, there are no flaws here with this wine that is made from Malbec on its own-rooted massal selection and planted at 1300 metres above sea level in Gualtallary, Tupungato, Mendoza. Loaded with fleshy ripe black fruit, pepper and smoke. Concentrated yet balanced. Pair with hearty stews and meat dishes.

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review: This started as the winemaker directors garage project to tinker with. Imperfecto getting its name from the 3% addition of Cabernet Franc to this blend, thereby making it an imperfect Malbec. Deep inky purple colour with M+ viscosity and thick dark staining tears. Blackberry, red cherry, blackcurrant, leather, floral violets and smoky cedar. A touch of bay leaf and gaminess - almost gravy-like. In the mouth this crisp and spicy Malbec really opens up to express flavours of sugarplums, dark cherry, dates and a touch of trail mix, smoke and chocolate with hints of of celery leaf and coconut at the end. Dry with M+ acidity, body and high tannins. Imperfecto is undeniably imperfectly perfect!
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review: Called “Imperfecto” simply because it is not a 100% Malbec; there’s 3% Cab Franc added to the blend. Enticing aromas of cassis, plum, black pepper, cloves, vanilla and slight meaty aspect on the delicious nose, with concentrated dark fruit, balanced oak and mouthwatering acidity on the satiny palate. This is a wowser wine that would make an excellent gift. Enjoy with rich Pasta Puttanesca, meat stews and game. Tasted September 2017
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review: This wine is named « less than perfect » not because it is flawed or tainted — quite the contrary. It is quite fabulous, the name faciously denoted the fact that it is not composed purely of Malbec grapes, but contains a touch of Cabernet Franc (3%) to accentuate the final product with peppery notes. This wine has a very dark ruby red colour, almost opaque. Its aromas is quite spicy with notes of black pepper and baking spices and the plums and blackberry smells is layered, almost jammy. The palate repeats the aromas’ complexity expressed in a soft and textured mouthfeel. It also includes a delicate influence of French oak with vanilla notes. The finish is long and sumptuous. Score 94. (S.Segard, reviewed Sept 15, 2017)
Simon Chen rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review: This is a garage wine with very limited production that is made by Daniel Pi, who manages Trapiche. The grape is sourced from a vineyard that is 1,300 meters above the sea level. The cooler and more stringent weather gave this wine a deep complexity on the mid-palate. The palate is dense, chewy but not overly ripe. Soft tannins and long long finish (25+ sec). It's a wine that I would choose to pair with stew meats or game meats rather than a big juicy steak.
Jacky Blisson rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: Youthful, inky purple colour. Very pretty nose featuring violets, ripe black berries and dark chocolate. The palate shows lovely harmony of fresh acidity, velvetty texture, full body and concentrated dark fruit flavours. Rounded tannins and spicy oak define the finish.
