Natalie's Score: 88/100 Rich and full-bodied with lots of mocha, dark chocolate and vanilla spice on the nose from generous oak aging. A mouth-filling wine with layers of fleshy black fruit flavour on the palate. This is a blend of Malbec, Bonarda and Syrah grapes that yields a velvet texture on the tongue. Try it with coffee-rubbed steak or ribs.

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: An exciting, fragrant red blend of Malbec, Bonarda and Syrah. The nose shows raisins, prunes, ripe raspberries, vanilla, violets and leather with forest floor elements on the nose. Rich, complex full-bodied palate repeats these flavours and adds a touch of mocha, then evolves into a long fragrant finish that ends on a caramel/mocha note. A wine to savour slowly. Great value. Price: $15.95
Nick Onischuk - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: The Trapiche Extravaganza 2013 is a fabulous blend of Malbec, Bonarda and Syrah. This full bodied wine features beautiful aromas and flavours of black berries, raspberries, spice and a hint of dark chocolate. Very rich and enjoyable on the palate. Good value at $15.9. Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review: A blend of Malbec, Bonarda, and Syrah. It's deep ruby red with a nose of cedar, match stick, smokey, sweet dark fruit, a touch of candied fruit. Palate shows sweet stewed fruit (approaching candied), vanilla, maple bacon, this wine is round and smooth and approaching an off-dry style. Great for large gatherings and enjoying with sweet and tangy meat balls or BBQ'd ribs. Tasted November 2014. 87 points. Matt Steeves - @QuercusVino
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review: Nov 22, 2014: Deep ruby, sweet ripe fruit, black cherry, stewed fruit, confectioners sugar, cedar, vanilla. Palate is near off dry, sweet, fruity and plummy, mocha with a little sour edged acidity and dusty tannins to offer some structure to the mass of sweet fruit. Manufactured to be a crowd pleasing wine, this stands a bit above some others tailored to this market. - 85/86
Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review: The 2013 Trapiche Extravaganza, composed of 55% Malbec, 35% Bonarda and 10% Syrah that briefly saw French Oak, has intense notes of vanillin, oak, black cherry and blackberry on the nose and black cherry and sweet vanilla on the palate. It is a medium to full bodied, off-dry, fruity wine; with forward acidity, grippy tannins and a medium to long finish that tends to gum up the palate. This is an easy-drinking party wine that goes down better with food; drink short term (composite cork enclosure). Rated 85 pts. Shelley Harris rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review: A full-bodied wine with plum and smoky aromas, followed by plum tastes and spice on the palate. This wine would pair well with a good old-fashioned slow simmered roast brisket au jus, served with caramelized onions.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 84/100 with the following review: Ripe black fruit, vanilla and milk chocolate. The taste is full and soft with blackberry and black cherry dominating the taste. There is a little soft tanin. Overall, and easy-drinking wine that would pair well with spicy red beef curry.
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 83/100 with the following review: Black cherry, lavender, and something that smells... Powdery? Palate is very sweet, tons of vanilla with sme blueberry poking through. Very thick, almost syrupy. There seems to be a lot of strange sensations in this wine. Is this what they mean by extravaganza? Interesting, but not my favorite.
Olivier de Maisonneuve rated this wine as 80/100 with the following review: Nez de patisserie, de guimauve flambée en camping. Well, it does smell like burnt sugar and jam filled donuts. It does come across as a sweet wine. Is it Argentina's answer to the sweet wines from California? Not that it tastes bad, but it is no blushing flower, for sure. Make sure you have your tylenols handy,if you plan to party with it like there's no tomorrow.
Community Reviewer reviewed this wine as follows: Here's a great find from one of Argentina's legendary producers. Trapiche Vineyards Red Blend is a delicious blend of Malbec, Syrah, and Bonarda that delivers bold flavors of cherry, blackberry and mocha. The smooth, intense finish pairs well with grilled meats, burgers, BBQ and roasted vegetables. Source: NB Liquor Stores
