From Miguel Torres, La Carbonera Las Pisadas 2016 is produced from 100% Tempranillo from the Rioja wine region. Lovely on the nose with ripe plum, crushed raspberry, anise and dried wild herbs finishing long and velvety with liquid raspberry on the palate. Excellent quality and amazing value at $20. So good now.

Food pairings: roast pork, veal chops, pork tenderloin, turkey tournedos.

Reviews and Ratings

Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Impressive at the price - a velvety-rich Rioja that will benefit from another year or two in the cellar (umm, basement chez moi) Notes of dried dark berry, licorice, leather and spice woven with savoury/herb aromas. Finish is medium-long, suggesting wild black raspberry. Definitely a steak-loving wine!

Strong alcohol flavour, tannin, raspberry
