The 2016 vintage of the Riebke is a blockbuster Barossa Shiraz produced by the Riebke brothers in the Ebenezer district of the Barossa Valley. The grapes grow on old, low yielding vines and the family has made wine for six generations. Kym Teusner is winemaker. Look for dark, ripe fruits, savoury spice on this full-bodied big red. This wine offers minty blackberry and toasty oak on the nose with a good grip on the palate. Barossa is Australia's heartland for Shiraz. This one offers great complexity and a long finish. Pair with prime rib.

Shiraz food pairings: lamb cutlets, hamburgers, espresso and cocoa-rubbed flank steak, black bean soup, cheese.

Power with a seam of dryness - a bit more structure than typical from Barossa, but a beautiful food-worthy wine.
