Loads of fleshy black and purple plums on the nose and palate with cracked black pepper on the finish. Staggeringly great for the price. The 2014 vintage of Tessellae Old Vines Cotes du Roussillon is fresh and intriguing on the nose with fleshy purple plums, black fruit and some toast. Perfect for grilled meats. Finishes with pepper and dark spice. Highly recommended

Grenache Syrah Mourvèdre food pairings: juicy, rare steak, barbecued ribs in sauce, hamburger, hard cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Tightly wound, a bit rough and gritty, decant this one for an hour or two (or even open, pour a half glass and drink the rest the next day) - it softens and opens up, the fruit really shines through and the components just come together beautifully. Black currant, leather, garrigue, pepper and bitter chocolate, very textured, quite appealling.
Domaine Lafage's Tessellaie Old Vines (2014) is a deep and dark 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre red wine blend from the Cotes du Roussillon. A fantastic value under $20 with a mouthful of ripe black and purple plums on the nose and palate with cracked black pepper on the finish. Drink now and for the next three years. - Community Wine Reviews
