Love it! Meaty and mouth-watering with gorgeous ripe dark berries. Smooth and full-bodied. Juiciness and acidity cry out for a food companion, especially for the hearty meat variety. Decant 1 hour. Some blackberry and anise on the finish.

Malbec food pairings: veal, beef, chicken herb-rubbed roast, hearty soups, stew.

Reviews and Ratings

Malbec is a good grape, and I don’t know, one of those sorts of wines Australians might drink if they have an itch to scratch – looking for something with body and flavour, but with a point of a difference. This fellow is grown at an altitude of 1067 metres above sea level. Blood plum, dark chocolate, blackberry – dark flavours on a round and fleshy palate that features sweet fruit tempered by dried herb and black olive/tobacco flavours. A little warm and diffuse, but tasty and satisfying. Like the bitter chocolate flavours on the finish. Has a bit of style and character. Drink: 2013-2017. Score: 90.
