The double magnum size of this wine that's equivalent to four regular 750 ml bottles. Full-bodied with black fruit and mouth-watering acidity. This is the second label of the Super Tuscan producer Ornellaia. This red wine is a blend of 50% Merlot, 30% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The wine was matured for 1 year in French oak. Finishes with leafy blackberry fruit, spiced red fruit and cassis, with fresh earth. Pair it with a medallion of tenderloin in a reduced red wine sauce. Decant for 1-2 hours. Great cellar wine.

Merlot Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: prime rib, New York strip loin barbecued ribs in rich gravy.

Reviews and Ratings

Le Volte dell’Ornellaia (2014) is a blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Each grape variety was fermented in steel tank to maintain its freshness and varietal integrity. The wine was then aged for 10 months, partly in oak barrel and cement tank. The double magnum size of this wine is equivalent to four regular 750 ml bottles. - Community Wine Reviews
