Le Volte Dell'ornellaia 2016 is the magnum size version of this full-bodied, fruity and savoury red wine. This is the second label of the Super Tuscan producer Ornellaia and is a blend of 67% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Sangiovese wine grapes. The wine aged for 10 months, partly in barrique used for Ornellaia and partly in cement tanks. Lots of plummy, blackberry, cassis and spicy flavours on this lush red finishing earthy and spicy. Tannins are fine and dusty. Great cellar wine for three or more years. Better in 2020.

Food pairings: prime rib, New York strip loin barbecued ribs in rich gravy.

Le Volte Dell'ornellaia 2016 is the magnum size version of this full-bodied, fruity and savoury red wine equivalent to two regular 750 ml bottles. This is the second label of the Super Tuscan producer Ornellaia -- a blend of 67% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Sangiovese wine grapes. Each varietal was fermented separately in small steel tanks to maintain their varietal characteristics intact. The alcoholic fermentation was followed by malolactic
fermentation, again in steel tanks. The wine aged for 10 months, partly in barrique used for Ornellaia and partly in cement tanks. Look for black currant, blackberry, savoury herb and minty flavours on this fleshy red. Tannins are dusty and fine. Decant two hours prior to pouring with a meatlover's pizza topped with more meat. Or hold in cellar for three years. - Community Wine Reviews
