Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A stunning wine featuring crushed purple flowers, black cherry, anise, plum. This wine is glossy and dense and very fulfilling. 92 Points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

100% Monastrell from Alicante, in SE Spain, made from hand-picked grapes from old vines.
Beautiful deep aromas of ripe cassis, dark cherries, violets, leather, repeated on the concentrated palate, in a full-bodied smooth mouthfeel. A glass full of vinous pleasure.
Tasted Jan. 2017
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Warm notes of leather and cedar are the first impressions on the nose, along with ripe strawberry and cherry. Slightly tart, balanced acidity, and lots of fruit on the palate. I get a bit of a floral note as well, more on the finish, which lingers and is quite lovely. Try with any rustic, wintry meat dishes, such as braised lamb shank.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Try this unique full-bodied red vinified from Monastrell fruit, 2012 vintage. Elegant floral notes with. A solid well-structured backbone of tannins, great acidity, integrating alcohol. Long finish with persistence of blackberry and anise. Tasted Jan 2017. Rated 90/100. BespokeTastings.ca
Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Dark fruits and cedar. Medium finish of tannic pull.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Faint nose with strong alcohol (at 15% packs quite a punch) Strong tannin pull. Pair this one with food that would balance the acidity, such as aged cheese.

Best paired with your mother-in-law visiting.
The producer of this 100% Spanish Monastrell (Mourvèdre) is Bodegas Volver. Tarima Hill Vineyard grape vines are 50 to 80 year old vines in the Alicante, Valencia region in Spain. - Community Wine Reviews
