Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A Chilean Cab Sauv from the Maipo Valley, crafted using a blend of 85% Cab and 14% Syrah. This is a really exciting Cab, bursting with aromas of black cherry and clove, coffee beans and spice. The rich palate gives cassis, fig and black plum along with nutmeg, tobacco and leather. Wow! Round tannins contribute to an impression of sweetness on the palate, although this is not a sweet wine. This is a food-friendly Cab and offers excellent value. Pair with your next prime rib or roast pork tenderloin. Cellar potential, 3-5 years. A great discovery that I would definitely buy again.
Tasted Oct. 2018 with the winemaker, Sebastien Ruiz.
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A yummy full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon from the Maipo Valley. Complex on the nose with aromas of plum, blackberry, autumn leaves, leather, cloves, tobacco, violet, chocolate, and black pepper. The dark tart fruit follows through on the palate, as well as sweet spice.

Wine-Food Pairing: Braised beef. Venison.

Tasted October 2018 at the Vina San Pedro wine tasting event.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A very pretty medium ruby colour with a hazy, glistening consistency. Spending 12 months in barrel and 6 months in bottle before release - it offers an intriguing bouquet. Incredibly aromatic with stewed cherry, strawberry, floral, strawberry, fresh bay leaves, eucalyptus and a hint of olive brine. Flavours show cherry, light fleshy plum and a hint of soft salty stony minerals. Well balanced with zesty acidity, and velvety tannins with a penetrating peppercorn finish. Delicious! An awesome pairing for braised pork ribs and rosemary beef. 90 points - tasted October 23, 2018
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, from Tarapaca Gran Reserva Vineyards, was harvested in the Maipo Valley of Chile. Crafted from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah, this wine reveals aromas of plum, cherry, dried herbs, mocha, spices, black pepper and oak. Full body and long finish, the Reserva seduces with a lovely touch of tannin and has an aging potential of three to five years. Flavors of cherry, plum, bay leaf, dusty smoke, black pepper, leather and oak extend the choice to drink this wine on its own or pair with red meat or pork. Enjoy. Tasted at the Chateau Laurier in October 2018; Winemakers from Vina San Pedro’s properties, Tarapaca Gran Reserva Vineyards.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Ripe, almost jammy or stewed black berry, blueberry, soft spice, dark chocolate and leather. Soft concentrated tannins and good acidity - this is a great "food Cab" Although it reads a bit sweet, the residual sugar clocks in at 3.6 g/l - pretty dry. The winemaker uses a mix of fermentation and ageing techiniques resulting in a harmonious, crowd-pleasing, versatile wine. Pair with braised short ribs. Oct 2018.
