Another terrific, crisp wine from winemaker Ann Sperling. The Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc grapes for this BC white wine grow on old vines that were panted 35 years ago. The depth and concentration shows in the wine. Aromas of chives, lemongrass and lime zest. Pair with seafood and shellfish.

Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Produced from biodynamically grown old vines Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris with an average age of 35-plus years. Softly fragrant with spring florals, blanched almond and lemon zest aromas on the nose. Dry, clean and crisp and medium-weight on the palate with poached pear, fennel bulb, anise, dill herb, lemon zest, finishing with a smattering of pepper spice and medium-plus acidity. Elegant, easy to enjoy and a perfect pairing to butter-sautéed halibut steak.

Established in the 1880s, Sperling Vineyards and Winery is owned and operated by the Sperling family. Old Vines Pinot (2017) is well-crafted by winemaker, Ann Sperling.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Fresh, crisp, and refreshing. Blended from old vine Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, there are aromas of lemon-lime, pear and lemongrass. Clean flavours on the palate, lots of bright citrus and some slightly restrained acidity provides some balance. Enjoy as an aperitif or with light white fish dishes.
