A black cherry nose with seductive smoke that follows though on the palate. Decant 1-2 hours to smooth out. Long finish with dark spice and toasty oak. Pair with rare meats.

Chianti Classico food pairings: meat lovers pizza, pasta in tomato sauce, breaded veal cutlets, cobb salad.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

From well known iconic Italian producers, Santa Margherita. Known for Pinot Grigio this Chianti Classico shows exciting cherry, pomegranate and toasty smoke through the nose. Flavours show this too - alongside tart blackberries, cranberries and an elegant infusion of soft cedar. Acidity is apparent and well balanced with a medium body, and finish. Tannins (M+) are engaging, gripping from the first sip. This is a classically good example and wonts disappoint with thin crust pizza and sun-dried tomatoes. Decant 1-3 hours. Tasted December 2018
From well known iconic Italian producers, Santa Margherita known for their zesty and crisp Pinot Grigio, this Chianti Classico on the other hand is savoury with bright cherry, red and dark berry flavours with a smattering of spice, mocha, as well as a zesty acidity to match. Pair with a meaty, cheesy pizza. - Community Wine Reviews
