Vintages Wine Panel: Rich, dense Carmenère with aromas of cedar, blackberry, sweet blueberry and plum. Dry, bright and fruity with subtle tannins bringing balance. A robust wine. My note: A stunning wine for the money! Rich and deep with fleshy dark fruit. The layers in this wine lap over one another with incredible voluptuousness. This wine is perfect for potluck gatherings or dinner parties.

Carmenère food pairings: barbecued steaks, ribs.

Reviews and Ratings

Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The 2009 Santa Carolina Barrica Selection Gran Reserva Carmenère, aged in French oak for 12 months. It is medium to full bodied, FRUITY to integrated wine with nice aromas of coconut and vanilla on the nose, and blackberry, prune and green pepper on the palate. It has a nice structure, with refined tannins (decant for 30 min), nice acidity and a long and smooth finish. It is ready to drink now or can be cellared for the next 5 to 10 years. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 90 pts - an unbelievable value for $15 and a recommended buy. Tasted Sept/11.
