Natalie's Score: 89/100

A robust, big bruiser of a wine with aromas of black fruit and smoke. Supple on the palate with more robust flavours coming through. Cries out for a juicy steak! This wine is matured for about a year in oak barrels, imparting an attractive vanilla spice on the finish. A previous vintage of this wine won the Gold medal at the Rutherglen Wine Show. The winery picks the Petit Sirah grapes at different times and ripeness levels to give the finished wine a wide range of flavours and complexity.

Petit Sirah food pairings: steaks, game, venison, savoury meat dishes, casseroles.

Reviews and Ratings

Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The 2008 Rutherglen Petit Sirah, aged in French oak for 12 months, is medium bodied and with intense aromas of fruity to integrated raspberry, red currant, bilberry and pine/oak. It has a good balance, refined tannins (decant for 30-60 min) and a long finish. Drink now or age till 2020 standing up (screw cap). My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 90 pts and a recommended buy - this wine is great for sipping. Tasted July/12.
