A full-boded yet balanced and elegant Californian red wine with aromas of blackberry and cassis. Supple and textured. Perfect for a rare steak.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: roast beef with root vegetables, baron of beef with red wine sauce and scalloped potatoes, flat iron steak on the bbq.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Alluring black plum, cassis, baking spice, floral, and tobacco notes come beautifully layered in every sip of this 2013 vintage Rutherford Hill Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate is rich with concentrated black plum, dusty tannins, a long spice finish.
Grapes are sourced from estate vineyards in the Rutherford appellation in Napa Valley - a place often declared by many wine aficionados as "the birthplace of Napa's best Cabernet." I couldn't agree more! Enjoy this remarkable wine with grilled beef/bison tenderloin medallions. Tasted June 2017 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Wineboy rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A power driven Cali CS. More cassis fruit than oak. Starts out smooth then moves towards solid tannins. This one needs time to show it's full beauty. 3-5 years.
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted Sept. 20, 2017 at wine club. Colour, medium red ruby, good thick legs. Aromas and flavours, black cherry, black berry, current, spices, cedar, black pepper. Taste, dry, fruity, medium plus mouthfeel, grippy tannin, raw cocoa stick, mouthwatering after the medium plus finish. This was the first of the 5 cabs we tasted and set the tone for the others. It was our number 1 choice. A lovely wine for a special occasion it does come with the highest price of the wines tasted. I would enjoy this wine with pan seared tenderloin seared in with brandy and portobello mushroom shallots, on a bed of Yukon gold mashed potates, side of roast red bell pepper.
Rutherford Hill (2013) Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley is a young Cab Sauv. at 2013 but showing great promise. The fruit is grown on two Rutherford estate vineyards, one on the valley floor and the other high above the winery. It is said the terroir around Rutherford imparts its own character on the fruit, which is known as “Rutherford dust” - a reference to the tannins in a Rutherford wine, as well as cocoa and mocha or coffee flavours. - Community Wine Reviews
