A supple, medium-bodied Italian red wine with lots of juicy acidity for roast chicken, turkey and grilled pork chops. Aromas of fleshy ripe cherry and fresh earth. The winery is nestled in the heart of a protected cypress grove that surrounds the 15th century chapel that houses the fresco of the mother Mary fresco illustrated on the front label.

Chianti Classico food pairings: meat pasta with rich tomato sauce, vegetarian lasagne, grilled pork sausages.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Tasting very well. Full bodied, well balanced. Made to pair with traditional Italian dishes. Would pair well with wild mushroom risotto, braised beef lasagna, a florentine steak, or antipasti platter of charcuterie and aged cheeses. Tasted 2014 vintage in Oct 2017. 91 points. Accessibly priced. Typicity. BespokeTastings
Ruffino Santedame (2014) is a well-priced Chianti Classico from the Tuscany wine region. Established in the 15th century, Cappella di Santedame or Chapel of the Madonna, is surrounded by protected cypress forests and the chapel has a fresco of the Madonna, which also was the inspiration for this wine`s bottle label. - Community Wine Reviews
