Natalie's Score: 91/100

A polished, silky Italian red wine with racy acidity and black fruit and toasty oak aromas. Lots of dark plum notes and mocha on the mid-palate and finish. This robust Chianti Classico is a red wine made from the Sangiovese grape with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, and the wine is aged for 24 months in French Allier barrels. Pair with pasta in a meat sauce or grilled meats. Decant 1 hour. Polished tannins, good concentration of flavour.

Chianti Classico food pairings: mince sirloin, sausage and cheese pizza, Tuscan rabbit, sausage cassoulet.

Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Made from the Sangiovese grape, this luscious red wine is mouthwatering with ripe dark fruit, a pleasant earthiness, chocolate and oak on the full bodied palate - dry with firm, grippy tannins. Lots of dark plum notes and a hint of dark chocolate on the mid-palate with soft plum on the finish.
Rocca Delle Macìe Zingarelli Riserva (2014) is a Chianti Classico from the Tuscany wine region with a toasty oak and ripe black fruit nose. Produced by Famiglia Zingarelli this is a dark, robust mouth-watering mostly Italian Sangiovese red with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The wine was then aged for 24 months in French Allier barrels. Drink now and for the next five years. Decant one hour and pair with pasta in a meat sauce or grilled meats. - Community Wine Reviews
