This full-bodied, deeply flavoured Niagara red wine a blend of 70% shiraz and 30% pinot noir grapes that are kiln-dried before they're pressed to deepen the wine's flavours. The wine is named "The Magician" with a whimsical label. Supple and smooth, with seductive notes of black cherry and smoke. Some licorice and spice on the finish. Pair with grilled meats.

Shiraz Pinot Noir food pairings: grilled flat iron steak, beef rib eye roast, venison tenderloin.

Reviews and Ratings

Luc Delorme rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

As memorable as the 2015 vintage, The Magician istarts of with a complex notes of black fruit, smoke and pepper. Refreshing light on the palate for a Shiraz, the wine expresses good balance of acidity and tannins. The Pinot Noir component bring some earthiness to the bold Shiraz, and the kiln-dried process extracts the most out of the Niagara grapes. This unique wine is certainly worth the price of entry. It’ll work well with red meat and stews, but is approchable to have on its own.
Wineboy rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

drying the fruit slightly before making the wine allows the winery to produce a wine with higher alcohol levels, a touch more residual sugars and softer acids than Mother Nature gives "cool climate Canada". Big bold black fruit with heavier body and power than expected. None of the raisiny elements that can sometimes loose me. Power
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Lots and lots of black pepper dominates this wine along with dark cherry, plum, leather and a hint of licorice. Black pepper tickles the tongue. I would do this with... pepper-crusted steak?
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is full of blackberry, black plum, black cherry, iron, mesquite, and a touch of fresh leather. Easily consumed. 90 Points.
Samer Forzley rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

On the nose: Black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, violets, leather, smoke, spice.

On the pallet: black cherry, blackberry, plums, and tobacco.

An interesting wine with a blend of Syrah and Pino Noir. Well rounded with a long finish of pepper and tobacco. Should pair well with steak or roast beef.
