Juicy and succulent, yet there's complex structure and texture here. This is a classic old vine Zinfandel from one of California's best producers of this wine. This listing is new in that the vines are from Napa Valley rather than Sonoma. Pair with grilled meats.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Superb value on a Napa Zinfandel. This producer creatss a line of Zinfandels from various famous American Viticultural Areas - even in places Zin doesn't really appear often, like the Russian River Valley.
Their Napa Zins tend to be less about really generous fruit and more serious in structure and with pretty aromatics. It has an aroma of kirsch, blackberry jam, chocolate, and raw game.
Don't mistake this; it still has 15% alcohol and coats your glass in a purple haze, but it also remains fresh and balanced for a Zin.
The palate is pretty smooth and the oak modest for Zinfandel. Lots of crushed blackberry, kirsch, black cherry, brown spices, vanilla, chocolate, and leather.
For a piffling twenty something dollars, you get a great wine from one of the last great, yet affordable icons in California wine. Speaking of icons, like many other Cali producers they have been tinkering with big Sonoma blends. Their latest, Icon, is an impressive wine sporting percentages of Alicante Bouschet, Carignan, and Petit Syrah.
Melanie Aubert rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

You can't go wrong with the Ravenswood Zinfandel: lots of black fruit like black cherry, plum, blueberry and blackberry, as well as vanilla, cocoa, baking spice and a hint of smoke. Pair with grilled duck magret served with a berry coulis for a meal your guests won't forget.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Wow, this Zinfandel offers a bold, juicy, densely concentrated profile, packed with flavour and tightly bound. Great structure, solid backbone of medium tannins, medium acidity, with ripe blackberry, fresh pomegranate, ripe blueberry and a hint of baking spices. Drinking well on it's own. Pairs well with goats cheese, black olive and caramelized onion thin crust pizza, or with gourmet BBQ burgers. Tasted Jan 2017. Rated 90/100. BespokeTastings.ca
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Enticing aromas of blackberry, chocolate, white pepper, and a hint of nutmeg, that carry through on the palate, with present but balanced tannin and acidity, and a lingering berry finish.
Wonderful with pizza!
Tasted May 2017.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Stewed plum and jammy cassis galore! A ripe fruit-forward crowd please with a balanced acidity and long slice finish. A great with. BBQ pulled pork and coleslaw on a bun. Tasted May 2017 by @sommsosa / bespoketatsings.ca
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Ample and chewy Zin showcasing how ripe it can get in Napa. Classic ripe blackberry, spice and vanilla (though not too overblown), tobacco, dark chocolate, grippy tanins and some alcohol heat. Fab with a slab 'o beef.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Thick and viscous, this Zin features plum, briars, fruit pit all enveloped by a lovely, flowery nose. This wine would pair effortlessly with cheese or chocolate. 89 Points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
