Reviews and Ratings

Alex & Priya - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Priya: Nice sparkle on this. A festive wine. Dry and tart but the bubbles make it feel and taste special without being an actual sparkling wine. 89pts

Alex: The nose isn't showing much except the power beneath it but you can manage to reach for yeast, flint, lemon and pepper. The palate however has a lovely purity. A zesty and buttery texture, plush and riveting on the finish. Great mineral length. 90pts
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Heady floral and peach aromas, with a lovely light effervescence making this a very fresh and flirty Gruner. A lingering peach flavour makes this a wonderful pairing with spicy dishes and desserts.
90 pts.
Tasted November 2016 and June 2017.

Tasted November 2016 and June 2017.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The 205 vintage is showing green pear, lime prominently with a hint of white pepper. Medium bodied, zesty, mouthwatering acidity, oily mouthfeel, well-balanced. Pair this with Asian shrimp dumplings, dim sum, Asian fusion dishes, sushi or a festive seasonal raclette. Serve well chilled. Rated 90/100 tasted Dec 2016. Great value.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Dusty almond nose, very fine and delicate effervesence, hazelnut, toast and crisp lime zest on the palate with a long-ish nutty finish. This would be great with appetizers at your next party.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

White peach, white flowers, yellow apple, and apricot aromas. The palate is balanced and leans towards apple and apricot. Medium-plus acidity with a soft mouth-feel.
Cherie Cole rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This medium-bodied white showcases lemon pith, golden delicious apple and dried apricot. Great acidity with a long, tart citrus finish. Tasted November 27, 2016.
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Apple, white peach, citrus pith, and a dry flinty aroma. Hint of effervescence in the mouth with a fresh squeezed lemon, tart green apple flavour, and a hint of soft cheese funk on the finish. Will accompany light breaded veal or panned fried sardines. Score 86. (Tasted Nov. 27, 2016)
Mymi Thesingingsommelier - Sommelier, FWS rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

The belief behind this award winning winery is cultivating the best locations and allocating varietals in their proper soils to obtain the best fruit possible. After all, top wines can only come from perfect grapes!
The fruit for this wine comes from a small 35 ha vineyard south of Langenlois in the Kamptal wine region named “Spiegel” (English translation; mirror). The name was given to this plot of land because the sun shines onto it as into a convex mirror!
The wine is a bit austere on the nose at first but it gently opens to exhibit aromas of cloves, white flowers and almond extract.
Slightly effervescent, dry, earthy and complex with a long minerally finish.
Vivacious and fun!
