From the Rioja wine region, R. López de Heredia Crianza Cubillo 2014 is a mature and earthy medium-bodied red wine blend of mostly Tempranillo with Grenache, Mazuelo and Graciano in support. Look for a mouthful of dark cherry, dried plum, raisins, earthy mushroom, dried tobacco leaf and chocolate flavours with a orange zest twist lingering and rounded on the palate. Tannins are firm and rich. Drink through 2028.

Food pairings: lamb roast, grilled rib steak, pork tenderloin, veal cutlets.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
