Excellent value on this loveable and easy to appreciate Italian red. Ripasso style reds are becoming increasingly popular. Lots of quality and flavour at a great price. The Ripasso method of grapes adds depth and flavour to a wine. Provolo Campotorbian 2012 is a full-bodied savoury Ripasso with dried prune and figgy flavours on the palate with a lingering dark chocolate and espresso finish. How could you not love it?

Ripasso Valpolicella Superiore food pairings: pizza topped with steak strips and garlic, spicy sausage, prime rib roast.

Reviews and Ratings

Cherie Cole rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This Ripasso-style wine was aged in oak for two years. The grapes come from a single-estate in the Verona area of Italy. Full-bodied with flavours of plum, dates, sweet spice and dark chocolate. Spicy sausage would be a great pairing for this wine.
Provolo Campotorbian 2012 is a full-bodied, mature, savoury Ripasso Valpolicella Superiore from the Veneto wine region. Smoky with dried fruit, espresso, dark chocolate and sweet tobacco leaf flavours on the palate. Robust and satisfyingly savoury. Tannins are velvety and this is an easy to understand and to enjoy red. Enjoy with a friend and a pepperoni and cheesy pizza. - Community Wine Reviews
