Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: A Columbia Valley, Washington, U.S.A. Cab Sauv, showing inviting aromas of blueberry, dark cherry and a hint of dark chocolate. Dark berries, cola and mint on the palate, nicely balanced with soft tannins. Tasted Jan. 2017
Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Aromas of dark fruits and wood. The palette follows the nose. Medium , tart and spicy finish.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Cabernet Sauvignon is generally a great value from the Columbia Valley in Washington, and this is no exception. Lots of cassis and currant on the nose, ripe red berry. Smooth tannin, and lots of berry flavour come through on the palate, along with a bit of mocha and vanilla. Pair with braised beef ribs.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: There is lots to like about this Cabernet from Washington State. The price for one - this is a great value wine. Smooth but with lingering tannins. Aromas of red fruit; blackberry, black cherry and vanilla. Velvet mouthfeel with flavours of cassis and black currant. This would be a versatile Cab to pair with many meat dishes. In fact, I think it will go very nicely with my roast pork for tonight's dinner!! Tasted January 15, 2017.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: An intense blast of fresh mint, floral, plum and mineral aromas to start. The palate shows a more rustic side of chewy tannins, high balanced acidity, and complex flavours of dried fruit, earth, dark chocolate and anise. A rich and robust full-bodied red ready to pair with Beef Wellington. Tasted Jan 2017 - @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Melanie Aubert rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: An interesting Washington cab sauv. It's grippier than others from the area, which will make it a perfect pairing for roasted meats, but has the same dark fruit, cocoa and vanilla. The subtle mintiness is a nice surprise and there is a bit of spiciness to it.
Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: Dark ruby in colour with aromas of blackberry, cassis, plum and black cherries. It is has well balanced alcohol, acidity and tannins. The ripe fruit flavours of black cherries and cassis really come through. This will go excellent with a nice BBQed steak or ribs.
David Skinner rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review: Medium dark ruby. Cherry and strawberry fruits with herbal touches. Cherry and red fruit flavours with full body and supple tannins. NIce acidity and well balanced. Medium finish with lots of fruit. Try with a simple steak.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review: Sagelands was established in 1984....a great year! Very subtle nose of dark berries. Full-bodied, chocolate and dark fruit on the palette, medium to high tannins and a long lingering finish. Don't think you're limited to dark meats with this wine. You could pair this austere red with fish if you use bitter ingredients. Such as an olive crusted red snapper where the olives bridge the gap between the fish and a heavy red wine. (Tasted January 16, 2017)
Founded in 1984, the Sagelands winery grows vines in the Columbia Valley of Washington state. This is an interesting Cabernet Sauvignon at a great price to pair with anything lamb. - Community Wine Reviews
