Very peppery Australian red wine with a black plum mantle and warming shawl of mouth-filling flavour. The superb 2011 vintage was ideal for ripening Shiraz. the grapes were selected from vineyards such as War Horse, Johnson Prolific, Bellevue and Bullrush. Finishes with vanilla bean and black pepper.

Shiraz food pairings: grilled back ribs with a rich sauce, marinated steaks, dark chocolate, lamb, salmon.

Reviews and Ratings

This Katunga vineyards full-bodied red wine is a blend of Grenache, Tannat and Shiraz (GTS), with Tannat being the unusual grape in the blend (it's usually Mourvèdre). Parcels of grapes are evening picked and fermented in open vats with daily hand plunging. Grenache provides the sweet fruit front palate and was matured in older oak barrels to preserve its freshness. The tannic grape Tannat adds power and weight to the mid-palate and it was seasoned for 2 years in American hogshead barrels. It offers violets, blueberry and quince on the nose. Shiraz was aged in French oak and brings chocolate, plum and pepper to the table (and glass). Try with a rack of lamb. - Community Wine Reviews
