Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Wonderful Australian Barossa valley Shiraz. Juicy and mouthwatering with big, bold rich mouthfeel. Juicy ripe red berry fruit, mocha, aged leather, and a pleasant hint of salted caramel. Paired well with an aged cheese platter of aged cheddar and Parmesan reggiano. Is drinking well on its own and would pair well with braised beef tacos, traditional roast beef and roast root veggies. Tasted 2015 vintage in Oct 2017. 93 points. Fantastic value. BespokeTastings
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Loved, loved, loved this deep, dark South Australia Shiraz, with its understated nose of ripe cherry, blackberry, hints of spice & pepper. The rich, full-bodied palate unfolds with fruit, dark chocolate and peppery notes that dance on your tongue. Velvety texture and lingering spicy finish. This is a very harmonious wine and excellent value, too. Perfect for the Shiraz lover on your list.

Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Dark ruby in colour with aromas of plum, blackberry, leather, black pepper and dark chocolate. It is fulled bodied with well balanced acidity and tannins. It is teaming with flavours of ripe dark fruit, black pepper and dark chocolate leading into a long spicy fruit finish. This Aussie Shiraz will be a great match for your next BBQ. Tasted on May 6, 2018.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

this is yummy and not overdone. Great acidity balances the ripe plum, briar and kirsch notes. Some dried herb and spice rounds this out well. This wine has ribeye written all over it. 92 Points.
Emilie Ryan rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

For those of us who don’t like Shiraz, this one is actually worth trying…
Presentation: An interesting, distinctive label, that looks like it’s made of old, weathered leather. Makes us think of an old boys club and Winston Churchill
Appearance: Deep purple
Nose: Medium nose with notes of dark fruit (plums, super ripe blackberries), leather, spice (black pepper)
Taste: Dry, full body, high acidity, drying tannins with black fruit (plums, blueberries, blackberries), earth/dirty, leather, eucalyptus, black pepper,
Finish: long, dark fruit, pepper and earth finish
Overall impression: this is a big wine that needs big food, like a big steak or blue cheese. But well worth it!
Value: 4/5
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

What a beautiful label that looks and feels like leather!

Dark ruby colour with an interesting nose of mint, juniper and dark fruit. This Shiraz is bursting with flavours of pepper, mint and grippy tannins that dance on your tongue for a long finish.

Would make a great gift for the Shiraz lover in your life. Pair with heavy beef dishes that can balance the tannins in the wine.

Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted Dec. 17th one day before Granddaughter Molly’s birth. Colour dark dense red, with good thick legs. Aromas and flavours of, blackberry, blueberry, smoke, chocolate and a hint of red cherry. Taste, dry, fruity, mouthwatering, full bodied mouthfeel, heat and grippy tannins. Finishes with strong fruit and long lasting tannin. This is a strong flavourful wine much like a rugged Australian from the outback. Dusty with a colourful reputation. Let the wine breathe before drinking. This wine pairs nice with steak grilled on the barbie. Thank you Barossa region.
Peter Lehmann's The Barossan (2015) is a consistent crown pleaser and a consistently good Shiraz. This is a generous and juicy, full-bodied red with spiced plum, ripe blackberry, dark chocolate, espresso on the palate finishing with pepper, spice and a hint of mint. Drink now and for the next 10 years. - Community Wine Reviews
