Juicy black and purple plums aromas and flavours. Very rich and concentrated. The grapes come from an elevated region of the Barossa Valley and express that cooler vibrancy in the wine. Aromas of dark chocolate and black plum. This is a terrific wine, especially for the price. Pair with gourmet hamburgers.

Shiraz food pairings: steak, barbecued quail, roast beef.

Reviews and Ratings

Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Nice aromas of raspberries, violets, chocolate, and baking spices. This is like a chocolate cake with flowers on top. The taste is bright but full, with lots of crisp tannins and a taste of blackberries and blueberries, with some of the chocolate in the aroma coming through as well.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Deep and opaque garnet with a brick reflections. Aromas are vibrant and full! A cherry fruit blast! Black cherry, dark plum, vanilla, dark chocolate, truffle, smoke and woody pepper corns. Elements of jammy cherry pie filling and cocoa. Flavours are also profound showing black cherry, blueberry compote, cassis, blackcurrant, roasted red peppers, anise and black liquorice. An evoking element of beef jerky and finely ground pepper lingering into the tongue. Medium plus acidity, with well integrated tannins, a full body and long finish. A Svelte and spicy mouthfeel. Pair with barbecued ribs and pepper flank steak. 92 points. Tasted January 2018
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Lovely layers of chocolate, briars and sandalwood. Candied violets and herbs. 91 points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby red and 14.5% ABV. This is a beautiful wine offering great value at an accessible price. Produced with fruit from select premium dry vineyards, with old vines Barossa Shiraz, upto 160 years old. These vines search deep into the earth for nutrients and the Peter Lehmann wine making crew have shaped this low-yield fruit into a wonderful wine. Mocha, ripe blackberry, black plum with tannic structure. Full-bodied, soft integrating tannins. Well balanced. Pair with aged cheese platter, BBQ steak, BBQ burgers, braised beef. 91 points. Tasted March 2017
