Natalie's Score: 91/100 The grapes come from an elevated region of the Barossa Valley and express that cooler vibrancy in the wine. Aromas of dark chocolate and black plum. This is a terrific wine, especially for the price. Pair with gourmet hamburgers.
Shiraz food pairings: steak, barbecued quail, roast beef.

Reviews and Ratings
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: Deep ruby red and 14.5% ABV. This is a beautiful wine offering great value at an accessible price. Produced with fruit from select premium dry vineyards, with old vines Barossa Shiraz, upto 160 years old. These vines search deep into the earth for nutrients and Peter Lehmann's wine making crew have shaped this low-yield fruit into a wonderful wine. Mocha, ripe blackberry, black plum with tannic structure. Full-bodied, soft integrating tannins. Well balanced. Pair this with aged cheese platter, BBQ steak, BBQ burgers, braised beef. @jonsteees rated 91/100 - tasted May 2016
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: If a single wine could be used to illustrate the uniqueness of the Barossa Valley terroir at a value price point, this would be it! The Portrait Shiraz literally embodies the fruit and terroir of the Barossa seeing that for almost 40 years Peter Lehmann has been sourcing grapes from over 140 different growers, from all corners of the Barossa. Aromas are clean and pronounced with developing notes of plum, cassis, blueberry, graphite minerality, spearmint and violets. The flavours recall all the notes from the aromatics with smooth tannins, balanced acidity and long yummy finish. Enjoy this med-full bodied wine with grilled sausages hot off the bbq! Tasted May 2016.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: Ripe and rich plummy notes, dark berries, a bit of chocolate, velvety tannins and noticeable alcohol; good value Barossa Shiraz at $20. Much preferable to a lot of the gooey business out there at the same price point. Happy bbq wine, of course.
David Skinner rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Very deep ruby and pink rim. A blend of shiraz from plots across the Barossa there is a delicate nose that emphasizes blackberries, dark plums and a touch of chocolate. Plenty of black fruit on the palate with some spicy notes. The tannins are supple and the acidity is medium-high. The finish is long and reprises the same fruit and tannins Lamb burgers or just by itself!
Emilie Ryan rated this wine as 84/100 with the following review: A Shiraz that can apparently evolve for at least 25 years… Presentation: Nice, distinctive, clean. Appearance: Medium-dark ruby Nose: Plums, raspberries, a tiny bit of mint, chocolate and maybe caramel Taste: Spicy/black pepper and jerk spices, dark chocolate Finish: Spices, round tannins, sour raspberries Overall impression: A spicy, robust wine, sourced from every part of the Barossa region, with plenty of character. Value: 3.5/5
