Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a brilliant ruby red Chianti Classico with typicity. Showing red berry, savoury herbal notes, eucalyptus, red field berry and highly concentrated fruit. Full-bodied and high acidity, with medium tannins which are integrated well. Well balanced, with long finish and persistence of berry and savoury herbs. Tasted blind 2016 Feb @jonsteeves Rated 90/100
Jane LeFresne rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This wine has cherry, blackberry, chocolate, leather and violet aromas. Flavours of sour cherry, sweet smoke and chocolate. Good balance of high acidity and tannins.
A long sour cherry finish with lasting tannins.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Nice and earthy, aromas of soft leather, dried herbs and cherries. Nice balance of fruit and smoky flavours and bright acidity. Flavours linger on the palate. Perfect for a variety of pasta and pizzas.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A restrained "classy" wine with aromas of old leather, plums, dried herbs, and earthiness. The earthiness and plum carry through to the taste, and there's a velvety mouth feel with medium tannins and acidity. Lice long leather and plum finish as well. I'm sure this would pair quite nicely with many traditional Italian dishes, but I'm trying it with a smoky meatloaf and potatoes.
Trevor Sabourin - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Dusty and savoury on the nose with cassis, dried cherry and cranberry, olive, nutmeg, earth, old leather, and dried violets. There seems to be just a hint of volatility and gaminess, which adds complexity. The weight seems just a bit over medium-bodied, the acidity is medium-high, and the tannins are well integrated. The palate is a similar combination of fresh, tart fruit and earthy, savoury notes. Very good length. Tasted blind, Feb. 2016.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This Antinori wine is made mostly from Sangiovese with a small amount of Merlot and Syrah. The 9 month oak aging is prevalent on the nose with spice, oak, leather, earth and intense fruit on the nose. I tasted this wine in a blind tasting and was very impressed. There are supple tannins with typical crisp acidity on the palate and a long finish. Italian wines are meant for food - I would pair this wine with the usual suspects of pasta and pizza but it could also stand up to some heartier fare!
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby, the nose has dark fruit with earthy notes to the berry and cherry. Dark cherry with savory and earthy notes along with mineral and some light spice. Fine grippy tannins and fresh acidity with a medium finish. Tasted blind February 2016.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Interesting nose with ripe dark berries, tea and leather notes. A medium-bodied, balanced palate shows ripe berries, plums, raisins, herbal touches and leather, slight oak. Extra-dry with a long spicy finish.
