Reviews and Ratings

David Skinner rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Medium ruby colour. Dark fruit aromas of blackberry and plum with herbal notes. Medium full bodied with light tannins and good acidity. Flavours show some depth of black fruit and chocolate. Medium long finish.

Serve with burgers or a hearty stew.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The price is right for this wine, especially with holidays fast approaching. Decant 1 hour. Lovely dark berry fruit, plum skin, Kenya AA coffee, cedar and currant leaf. Well-rounded. 89 Points.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

From the Peller Estates winery, a well-renown winemaker located in the Niagara region, the Reserve Cabernet Merlot 2019 offers aromas of red currant, red plum, jalapeno, graphite, baking spice, new leather and cedar. Enjoyable and tasty, this medium-bodied wine shows great balance and a long and fruity finish. Palate: tart plum, cherry, dried herbs, clay dust, cocoa, spice and cedar. Enjoy.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Great value for this crowd-pleaser of a wine. Aromas of red berry, currant, and spice. Medium bodied, smooth on the palate with lots of ripe berry notes, hints of mocha and warm spice. Enjoy with grilled sausages or burgers.
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Aromas of sun soaked blueberry, ripe strawberry, sweet tobacco, rose petals, milk chocolate, leather, cedar, and a touch of vanilla bean. Full bodied with gentle tannins, balanced acidity, black plum, cassis, red berries with just a touch of cocoa. Easy to drink on its own but would pair well with roasted red meat.

Tasted December 2020
Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Fruit forward and expressive. In my glass, energetic scents of red berries - especially wild raspberry and red currants - and wood smoke introduced a juicy medium body frame defined by subtle red berries, cracked black pepper, light structure and welcoming soft tannins. This creation for Ontario’s Niagara Peninsula appellation will pair nicely with decadently dressed BBQ’ed burgers. Consume on its own, too. Enjoy.

Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A wonderful Canadian expression of a Bordeaux blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot).
Brilliant garnet hues, aromas of blackberries, red flesh plums, dried herbs and a hint of vanilla swirl in the glass. Flavours transform to a structured and lengthy spicy plum finish.
Perfectly paired with a variety of dishes - from puff pastry hors d’oeuvres to mushroom pizza to roasted ham.
Tasted Dec 2020.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

After the 2020 we’ve had the word “Family” has never been more important! As they say on their Peller website “Shared experiences and memories are what make up Family” so I suggest you recommend this readily available and very affordable Cabernet/Merlot to your family and friends and set up a Zoom or Skype call to share online over some great conversation and laughs! Order a pizza with it and make it a party!

Aromas of blackberry and ripe cherry. Flavours of sweet cherry with a burst of spice mid-palate. Nicely balanced with medium tannins and acidity. Tasted December 29/2020
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A budget-friendly Cab Merlot that Ontario does so well. Lots of dark currant, vanilla and red berries, with hints of spice and mocha on a smooth, medium-bodied palate. Paired very well with a New York Striploin steak.
Philippe Perreault - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Clear purple color with notes of blackberry, cherry, blueberry and smoke.
It's full-bodied, very long and silky on the palate.

Pair it with red meats.
Serve it at 15-17 degrees.
Enjoyable now but can be aged 3-5 years
Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Medium purple in colour with aromas of black cherry, plum , cedar, cassis and black pepper.   It is medium bodied with soft tannins & medium acidity and has flavours of blackberry, raspberry and cassis with  black pepper spice. This will pair well with grilled red meats.  A  great value wine.  Tasted on June 20, 2021.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A fabulous price - $12.95 for this easy drinking blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot grapes. An aromatic bouquet, featuring blackcurrants, dried herbs, and smoky dark chocolate. Flavours are bright with cherries, vanilla, red skinned plums. Graphite mineral notes also faintly appear, with fruit driven elements of blueberries and smoke lingering on the palate. Medium bodied and a lighter weight with a moderate tannic structure. Incredibly versatile. Sure to be a hit with charcuterie, pizza or any grilled meat dishes. Enjoy! - Tasted December 2020
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Fig, fruit leather, but also ton of herbal/notes - cypress, thyme, lavender. The palate is juicy wild raspberry and more herbs. Would be good with pepper crusted steak, pasta Bolognese, burgers.

Great value VQA wine!
