The South African Nederburg Manor red wine was named in honour of the Cape Dutch home built in 1800 on the winery estate by Nederburg's founder, Philippus Wolvaart. Manor House 2015 Shiraz is smoky on the nose with ripe berry and cherry aromas. Dry, smooth and silky on the palate with dark fruit, dark cherry, dark chocolate and spicy flavours. Superb value under $20. Pour it with a grilled Bavette steak.

Shiraz food pairings: espresso and cocoa-rubbed flank steak, lamb cutlets, burgers with blue cheese, grilled pork chops.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Smoky mocha notes on the nose here with dried fruit and herbs on the palate. Nice structure and restraint. This would be a great wine with Christmas tourtière, roast beef or beef bourguignon. Very good value. Tasted 22 November, 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
