Concentrated, chary black fruit, smoky oak and mocha on the nose of this robust red wine. This northern Italian red wine is designated Superiore and is aged for 8 months in oak barrels and then another 4 months in the bottle before it's released from the winery to the market. Pair with rare meats.

Barbera d'Asti food pairings: cheesy pizza, roasted pepper, tomato and pasta casserole, grilled Italian sausages.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Unpretentious, well priced red from a cool wine region. 100% Barbera from Asti, in east Piemonte.
Medium ruby. Watery at the rim, dark at the core.
Decent oaking (8 months) in large barrels means it has matured well.
Loads of black amd red fruit. Bramble, charred barrel, coffee, raspberry, anise, and lots of floral notes (as ot breathes).
Bracing concentration amd acodoty. It os packed with flavour. It benefited from some time to breathe in the glass (a decanter for 20 min would not hurt). Mushroomy funky finish gives it a cool edge. Delicious and savoury.
Pair with pork loin done simply with garlic, salt, and pepper.
Michele Chiarlo Le Orme (2015) is a dry, smoky Barbera D'asti from the Piedmont wine region. Lots of juicy plum, ripe cherry and red berries, dark chocolate and black tea flavours. Great acidity and supple tannins on this made-for-pizza red -- And, I just can't believe the price. - Community Wine Reviews
