A fleshy, voluptuous New Zealand Pinot Noir with racy dark cherry and raspberry aromas. Layers of satin texture on the tongue. Very sensual wine. Pair with planked salmon or roast chicken.

A fantastic value-priced Pinot from Marlborough, NZ. Matua is recognized globally as being synonymous with excellence from their long history of fine wine production (Matua were the first NZ producer of Sauvignon Blanc) and their 2014 Pinot Noir is a great example of just that. Ripe cherry, baking spice, herbs, and chocolate fill the palate of this refreshing Pinot making it a top choice for gourmet burgers or autumn harvest meals. Tasted May 2016. 90+ points. Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Vibrant fresh floral and cherry galore! And that's just how it smells. This Marlborough Pinot Noir is enticing and a definite crowd pleaser. Flavours show red cherry, hibiscus tea, and mild allspice notes. Enjoy this juicy light bodied pinot with cream of mushroom soup (topped with shreds of crispy bacon of course). Tasted Dec. 2016 - @sommsosa / bespoketastings.ca
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

I enjoyed this Pinot from Marlborough NZ. It went perfectly with a hearty roasted heirloom vegetable and braised beef stew. Beets, pomegranate and ripe black cherry on the palate. Well balanced, integrated alcohol, slightly tart, with prominent juicy fruit. Wonderful on its own and pairs exceptionally well with braised red meats or pork tacos. Tasted Dec 2016. Great value and a crowd pleaser for festive occasions. Rated 90/100 bespoketastings.ca
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

If you are looking for a quality Pinot Noir with a delicate touch of oak, this wine delivers quality and availability.
Pale cherry-red and energetic in appearance.
Brambley wild strawberry, currant, tomato leaf, 5-spice, and beets.
A wonderful barbecue wine, since it contrasts tons of red fruit flavour with delicate nuances of earthiness. There's a dusting of cocoa powder and matchwood on the finish.
Pair it with lamb kabobs with bay leaves.
Matt rated this wine as 85/100
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted March 20th 2017. Colour Halls Cherry Lozenger (crimson) clear and bright. First sniff a note of rubarb mixed with sweet cherry. More swirl more sweet cherry and strawberry aromas. On the palate more sweet cherry, strawberry and hibiscus tea, per Monique Sosa. The tannin for me was just right added some spice on the finish and lovely mouthwatering. This wine is very enjoyable and a great bargain price.
According to Matua web site 2014 was a "cracker of a vintage" faster ripening in Marlborough and some Ortega fruit. The winemaker Nikolai, was letting " the varietal and vineyard shine through. Grapes are from a stellar Marlborough vintage."I enjoyed it with a simple roast chicken stuffed with lemon and garlic cloves and brushed with low sodium soy sauce. Going to buy more to drink now and looking forward to trying 2015.
