Coffee and dark chocolate with dried herbs and some wild tart blackberries. Full-bodied, smooth, rich and deep. Cries out for a hearty meat dish.

Food pairings: rich meat-based or baked pasta dishes, blackened leg of lamb, strong cheeses.

Valerie Stride - WSET ADV rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby in colour, this "Supervenetian" is layered and vivid with cherries and oak, raisins, leather, and soft vanilla. Hints of toffee come out to play, too! Medium bodied and in finish, this IGT product is a sure-fire way to enjoy some of what Italy truly has to offer. Salut!
Just as Tuscany has its Super Tuscans, so is this wine the prototypical Super Venetian. Made from semi-dried grapes including Refosco, Carmenère (both disallowed under the conventional DOC) and local varieties, it’s a unique variation on the Amarone theme. Deep ruby in the glass with decadent notions of chocolate-covered raisins, cherry pie, cinnamon, fig, incense and vanilla. Big, rich and delicious. It’s remarkably dry on the palate with good structure and a long, luxurious finish. Source: Vintages Wine Catalogue.
