Mocha and dark chocolate with dark spice on this robust Italian red wine made from the Appassimento method of drying the grapes for great concentration of flavour. Pair with grilled meats.

Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico food pairings: pasta with a tomato sauce, roasted venison, beef and veggie stew, leg of lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby colour with dark staining viscous tears. Pronounced aromas of black cherry, dark sugared plum, prune, vanilla, glosette raisin. Flavours of stewed fruit, cassis, blackcurrant, blueberry jam and baked cherry pie filling. Jammy but so elegant. Full bodied with high tannins and a long finish and the acidity to balance perfectly. Truly a flavourful and enjoyable sipper, share with company and conversation. Pair with big bold cheeses, and hearty stews.
Masi Campolongo Di Torbe (2011) Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico comes from the Veneto region in Italy. Masi`s Campolongo di Torbe vineyard has been producing top-notch grapes and wine since the twelfth century. Look for rich red berry and cherry flavours along with earthy florals and cedar spice on this single-vineyard Amarone and is a 'Cru' wine of which Masi was a instrumental in establishing the "cru", or "single vineyard," designation in Italy.- Community Wine Reviews
