A terrific wine, especially at this price! Full-bodied with aromas of cedar brush, black fruit and smoke. Beautifully balanced and complex. Just what you'd expect from a Chapoutier wine. Pair with grilled pork chops.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre Pays D'Oc - coming from the lowest of the French quality designations. It has a lot of complexity in spite of it's humble origins.
Medium ruby colour.
Aromas of brown spice, raw meat, black pepper, balsam, plum, fig, and chocolate.
Flavours of cherry, plum, pepperiness, dried figs, brown kitchen spices (anise and dried herb).
You may notice the braille on the label. Chapoutier does this for his daughter, who is blind, so she can distinguish the labels herself.
Gwen Barton rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Rich and juicy with dense red-purple hue. Loads of ripe concentrated red fruit aromas and flavours. Also notes of fig, herbs and earthy elements. Sweetness from the Granache and spiciness from the Syrah grapes contribute to the nice complexity of this wine. Well structured with smooth tannins and enough acidity for balance. You won't believe this wine is less than $15! And a big shout out for the Braille on the label. Try pairing with lamb kebabs and sesame sauce. Tasted Sept 2017
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Concentrated dark and dried fruit with garrique and cedar. Trademark Chapoutier silky tannins, smooth mouthfeel and excellent balance. Great achievement of PVB value. Grab 2 or 3 bottles at this price!
Tasted Jan. 2017
Carola Price rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Bright and purple to the core. On the nose jammy black fruit and some mushroom, clove. In the mouth there is more of the cassis jam and some black pepper. Medium bodied and finish where nothing is overpowering. Softens after 20 seconds. A pleasant introduction to GSM. Pair with lamb burgers, short rib tacos, grilled veggies and medium bodied cheeses.

Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Great aroma of fresh ripe fruits. Full of flacour and intensity. Balance gentle tannins and watery acidity. A well-made, honest, unpretentious wine. Solid value.
Jacky Blisson rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Medium ruby. Moderately intense nose of dark cherry, prune and garrigue. Medium bodied, with fresh acidity and bright fruit. Lacking in concentration or intensit, but attractive for the price.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 82/100 with the following review:

Earthy dark cherry with a touch of 'horsiness' and dried leaves. Rustic blackberry and cherry taste and medium grippy tannins.
