Reviews and Ratings

Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A great value California Pinot Noir, that punches above its weight.
Sparkling garnet red in the glass, with lively cherry, rhubarb, cedar and rose petal aromas. Mouthwatering juiciness, lighter bodied, with a carry through of cherry and black pepper flavours on the finish.
Pair with white sauce and spinach pizza or holiday dinners.
Tasted Dec 2021.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Darker than your usual old world Pinot Noir, the Longshot 2019, from California, shows aromas of strawberry, cotton candy, dried herbs, gun smoke and cinnamon. Medium-bodied, the wine exposes balance and a savory finish. Palate: strawberry, cherry, potpourri, dried leaves, brown sugar, vanilla. Enjoy!
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Beautiful in my glass with its bright cherry-red colour. Cranberry, rhubarb, ripe field strawberry and cedar notes on the nose along with hints of chocolate and rose petal.

Medium bodied on the palate with tart cherry flavours and delicate floral notes seeping through with just a touch of musk and smoke.

Wine-Food Pairing: Barbecued salmon, turkey with cranberry sauce, grilled Portabello, or either roasted duck or pork chops served with a berry sauce.

Gwen Barton rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Enjoyable medium-bodied wine with subtle sweetness. Definite fruit forwardness you would expect from a Cali Pinot matched with oaky notes. Nice acidity and tannins lending to a good overall structure. All this at an incredible price point. Pair with mushroom focaccia. Tasted: Nov 2021
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

An outstanding value for this Californian Pinot Noir from Longshot Winery. Fruit forward with red cherry, dark plum and toast alongside equally appealing matching flavours with a sprinkling of vanilla. Despite the pronounced fruit component, this is still quite dry, medium bodied, well rounded and nicely balanced throughout. A good match for grilled portobellos and a cheese board. Enjoy! - tasted November 2021
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This is a ripe Pinot Noir with aromas of caramel, strawberries, red cherry and smoke. Medium+ bodied with ripe berry notes and more vanilla, smoke and caramel hints on the palate. Enjoy with grilled pork or sausages.
Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The 2019 Longshot Pinot Noir is an aromatically extroverted, cherry focussed expression of this varietal. Crafted by wine maker Beth Liston, this Cali creation shows stunning ruby hues, right touch acidity and a velvety tannin feel.

For me, this pinot’s primary take away is the playful divergence between its aromatic umph – some smoky cherry scents soared inches above my glass – and its delicate cherry flavours. I like how this contrast enhances the experience offered by this wine.
