Natalie's Score: 91/100 This full-bodied red wine has lip-smacking delicious aromas and flavours of black and purple fruit. Smooth and supple. Love the fact that this big shiraz is not filtered, giving us the full-on flavour experience. Try is with lamb and rosemary.
Shiraz food pairings: potato, chickpea and lentil green curry, spaghetti with clams, mussels and bay scallops, saffron potato cakes.

Reviews and Ratings
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review: Dandelion vineyards are meticulous in how they handle their grapes to produce their wine. Their vineyard does not sound like an industrial machine - everything is done by hand. They hand harvest, fermented and hand plunged in open-top fermentors, amd aged 18 months in used French oak. Deep purple, with red reflections; the wine has a glasscoating effect as well. The aromatics are dark and brooding, though not as extroverted as this wine has been on other vintages. It's more subtle, though complex. There's some chocolatiness to the oak, but it is also subtle and it doesn't hide the fruit. Black pepper, damson, and cassis aromas Well made and it tastes terrific. Menthol, blackberry, cassis, old leather, cocoa powder, and a peppery finish. Don't be afraid of sediment. It's a sign they refrained from fining or filtering the wine at the bottling stage. Those processes often hamper the quality of the finished wine - removing flavourful and aromatic compounds. This wine should age for a decent period of time (at least five to seven years). Pair this wine with elk burgers or a rack of lamb.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: The 2014 vintage of dandelion Shiraz shows densely concentrated ruby red with a slight purple hue. Declared 14.5% ABV. This Barossa beauty is drinking well. Boasting with red berry, blackberry, more subtle baking spice and eucalyptus. Well balanced, integrating high alcohol, medium acidity and medium plus tannins. Full bodied. Drinking well on it's own and pairs well with baked salmon steak, BBQ pork tenderloin, rack of lamb. Tasted Jan 2017. Rated 89/100.
Produced by Dandelion Vineyards, the grapes for this robust red wine come from vines 100 years old. The wine is open-fermented with wild yeast, then aged 18 months in French oak barrels, and is not fined nor filtered. In 1979, Peter Lehmann established his winery. Because of his huge impact on the Australian winemaking industry and in recognition for making fine Australian wines, he was appointed to the Order of Australia. In 2009, he was awarded the International Wine Challenge Lifetime Achievement Award. Peter Lehmann died in 2013, at the age of 82. This wine was awarded Platinum at the 2015 Critics Challenge International Wine Competition. - Community Wine Review
