Full-bodied, smooth and savoury with juicy, fleshy black fruit aromas. This blend of classic southern French red wine grapes includes Carignan, Mourvèdre and Syrah, brought to us by Maison Johanes Boubee. Aromas of black plum and cassis on the finish... hard to believe this has no oak. Great with hearty meat dishes.

Grenache Noir Syrah Carignan food pairings: beef stew, roasted pork.

Reviews and Ratings

Melanie Aubert rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Beautiful blend of grenache, syrah and carignan from the southwestern tip of France bordering Spain, a region sandwiched between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean. This geographical situation makes its mark on the wine with aromas of the garrigue soil (minerality and herbs) and salinity from the sea. Dark berries are the immediate flavour on the palate, with licorice making an appearance on the finish. This wine has great acidity, making for a very food-friendly wine. I enjoyed it with a Hungarian pork stew served with spaetzle.

Drink soon (tasted May 2017).
