Restrained yet at the same time concentrated aromas of red plum, blackberry, subtle black pepper spice, and, appropriately enough, game!

The spiciness shines through a bit more on the palate, and this wine is balanced and zesty.

Paired beautifully with Yorkshire Elk at the Fowles Wines tasting.

This was my favourite wine at the Australian High Commission Ottawa Fowles Wine Tasting on April 8, 2014. It was a full bodied Shiraz with blackberry, cherry and spicy aromas and flavours. The lamb slider was a perfect accompaniment.

Delicious deep purple ruby and enticing aromas from the glass commences the seduction of this Fowles wine. Stewed cherries, vanilla, bakers chocolate and smoke on the nose following through with typical black pepper and ripe fruit on the palate. Luscious and warm. Fruit - acid - alcohol all balanced. Tannins nicely integrated.
Great paired with Elk and Yorkshire Pudding slider, Lamb slider, or a Canadian BBQ wine.

Ripe, and dripping with sunny intensity, sour cherry, raspberry and pepper coupled with a dry astringent effect that makes a truly great food pairing wine. This is a vintage not to be overlooked, for me it rivals a good bottle of French Pinot Noir.

A versatile vintage, pairing with everything from venison to guinea fowl. Personally, I’d be happy with a wild boar (or pork) rillettes, a chunk of cheese that is reminiscent of gym socks, a fresh baguette and a bottle of Fowles’ Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch – that’s what passes for dinner in our house.

The 2010 Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch Shiraz, sourced from Strathbognie Ranges in Victoria, has intense nose of raspberry, blackberry, fennel seed and almond. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry, fruity wine; balanced with forward, crisp acidity, refined tannins and a long finish. It is food friendly and will please as a sipper; drink now to 2018+. My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 90 pts – recommended for its quality. Tasted at Australia Today 2014 Trade show http://grapeselections.com/australian-wine/ in Feb/14.

2012 Vintage
The deep purple colour of this wine delivers on its promise of rich, dark berries, pungent spices of black pepper, and clove over mouth-watering, savoury layers of rich game and leather complexity. The ripe, round texture makes this wine perfect for enjoying on its own or pairing with game such as Elk, with Lamb, or finer cuts of beef.

The whimsical name on this wine comes from the passion for hunting by winemaker Matt Fowles. I think it's the ideal wine for Sarah Palin. Source: Moi
