Reviews and Ratings

Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Beautiful nose of blackberry, aged leather and smoke with smooth flavours of blueberry, raspberry and spice. Would pair well with ribs, smoked meat. Great value!

Tasted May 9, 2018
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is not what you think it's going to be. Lots of black cherry, currants, blackberry pit vanilla and pepper spice. It's medium bodied and not overdone. Well done to KWV for maintaining such high quality for such affordable prices. Save for winter and serve with venison stew. 90 Points.
Cherie Cole rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This rich and round Shiraz showcases aromas of dark, dried fruit, cinnamon, clove and leather. Full-bodied with a great balance between tannin and acidity. Pair with prime rib roast. Tasted May 06, 2018.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Fantastic food pairing wine, with great acidity, well balanced. Presenting with vivid blueberry, plum, cassis, savoury herb. Medium tannins, medium plus acidity. Pair with braised brisket, or a charcuterie plate, and easily enjoyable sipping on it's own. Tasted 2014 vintage August 2017. 89 points. BespokeTastings
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Deep dark and inky with a full rich bouquet featuring stewed strawberries, ripe raspberry, dark skinned plum, toast, grilled black fruit, smoke and dark chocolate. Accompanying notes of cigarbox, roasted coffee beans, espresso and a hint of roasted red peppers. Flavours are complex. Black cherry, cassis, licorice, anise, and oh so much coffee. Complex and fruity, with cooked fruit - much akin to raspberry cheesecake topping! Yum! Medium plus acidity, well integrated full tannins and a rich round velvety full body. This is perfect to pair with slow smoked beef brisket and medium bodied cheese. Also, a savoury barbecue wine! - tasted January 2018
From the Western Cape wine region, Cathedral Cellar (2014) is a full-bodied, robust Cape Shiraz with black currant, leathery notes and dark spices lingering on the palate. Pair with a Wildebeest standing rib roast. This is a great value game wine. - Community Wine Reviews
