Reviews and Ratings
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: This fragrant Pinot Noir has sour cherry aromas as well as cinnamon, caramel, vanilla, and hints of lilac. It is tart on the palate, with juicy sour cherry and plum flavours as well as floral notes and a touch of black pepper. It is medium bodied with smooth tannins. Overall, a very lovely wine. Pair with roasted duck, quail or chicken. Tasted May 2018
Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: Very fruit forward aromas with lots of cherry notes. The palate offers cherry, raspberry, cola and spice notes. Finishes with soft tannins and lingering spice notes. Tasted May 2018.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: An intrinsic, inviting Pinot Noir from Joel Gott - California. On the nose, red fruits jump. Pronounced cranberry, pomegranate and forest mushroom touches. Flavours are bright, luscious, featuring strawberries, red cherries, ripe red delicious apple skins and a delicate whisper of rusty smoke. Acidity is high, but balances well against the chewy medium tannins, offering a dry, delicate sweetness at the back. Pair with light smoked Gouda and toasted quinoa crackers. 90 points - tasted May 6th 2018
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: Rich pinot and spicy with blackberry, wild blueberry, cinnamon, nutmeg and toffee. Sipping, there is a lot of stewed/dried fruit like prunes, with the lingering sweet-smokey toffee note and a touch of savoury bacon. Complex and deep, this would be good with a mid-heavy dish like pork tenderloin or roasted duck. Also good with a mushroom pate.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: This California Pinot was aged mostly in stainless steel with a small amount in new to 3 year old French oak. The result is a wine that is not overly oaky and allows the fruit to come through on both the nose and flavours. Ripe cranberry, spice and a wisp of smoke on the nose. Black cherry and raspberry flavours with medium acidity and polished tannins. Medium to long fruit finish. Tasted May 6, 2018.
Cherie Cole rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Ripe, dark cherry, vanilla, tobacco leaf with secondary aromas and flavours of fresh herbs. Medium bodied, with a tart cherry finish. Pair with herbed-grilled salmon. Tasted May 06, 2018.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: A California Pinot Noir, showing tart cherry, plum, baking spice, herbal touches and a hint of smokey oak. Tasted May 2018
Gwen Barton rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Aromatic Pinot Noir from California. Medium-bodied with generous nose of tobacco, blackberry and cedar. Strawberry and more sour cherry in the mouth with soft, sweet spice. Smooth and well-balanced. Pair with dates stuffed with herbed goat cheese. Tasted: May 2018.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: Lots of flavour in this Pinot, aromas include blueberry, baking spice, cherry and cranberry. Also a bit of a smoky note. Bright acidity, and some smooth tannin. Lots of cherry and cranberry on the palate, along with more earthy, smoky flavours. Enjoy with a robust mushroom dish.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review: I tasted this one side by side with the 2016 Joel Gott Pinot Noir from Oregon. Aromas of stewed plum and vanilla. Dry on the mouth with flavours of raspberry, sour cherry and sharper acidity compared to the Oregon one. Pair with BBQed meats. Tasted May 6, 2018
Simon Chen rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review: A typical california-style pinot. Candy-like texture but with cherry acidity.
Emilie Ryan rated this wine as 84/100 with the following review: A good, approachable Pinot Noir… Presentation: Plain understated label, but the basic information needed is there, easy to read Appearance: Pale ruby Nose: Medium nose with notes of raspberries and other red fruit, some mushrooms and old wood Taste: Dry, medium body, medium-high acidity, medium, grippy, edgy tannins, sour raspberries, metallic, earthiness Finish: medium, sour red fruit finish Overall impression: This is a good, well-made approachable Pinot Noir. It would pair well with hard cheese, grilled vegetables, and lighter meats (e.g., poultry). Value: 3.5/5
A lovely Pinot Noir with pink florals, ripe strawberry and raspberry fruit. Pairs well with roast duck. - Community Wine Reviews
