Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

If you like power but not jammy fruit - this is the wine. Full power with a beautiful balance of Shiraz and CS characteristics. Nose of CS with the fruit of SZ. Some pepperiness on the palate. Great length. Lovely blend.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a solidly built wine, with a core of peppery black briar and red plum. There's a mentholated quality here, with dried violet and hung game. 90 Points.
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Clare Valley is mostly associated with cooler climate examples; mainly Riesling and aromatic Shiraz. This is a great example that taps into what conventional Australia delivers. It is ripe, fleshy, smooth, and decently big.
Deep crimson, with a wee bit of purple.
Aromas of cassis, stewed plum, eucalyptus, strawberry, cocoa, and coffee.
Lots of big fruity flavours, here. Blackberry and cassis. Not a lot of acidity, but plenty of alcohol. Pleasant and soft. Moderate tannins for a wine of this size.
Put this wine with some grilled eggplant lasagna. Yum.
Samer Forzley rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

On the nose: Blue and dark fruit. Cassis, smoke, bacon, meaty, violets, and pepper.

On the pallet: Black cherry, blackberry, plums, and tobacco, pepper, tobacco, coffee.

Good wine, Full body, with young tannins, and enough acid to balance it out. A long finish with pepper and spice lingering on the pallet. Enjoy it with pulled pork.
Luc Delorme rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A big, bold Australian Shiraz, as they then to be. Ripe red fruit, smoke and pepper on the nose, with a hint of volatile alcohol hint that his will not be a subtle experience. The flavours of ripe fruit, smoke and pepper persist on the palate to pleasant effect The structure of the wine is as bold as the flavour, with significant tannic presence that is not quite balanced by the acidity. This wine will shine with barbecued meats.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Aromas of blackberry and black plum with a hint of vanilla. Medium-bodied with cedar, blackberry and pepper. Well balanced use of oak but a short finish.

Pair with cheeses or sip on its own.

Tasted November 19, 2018.
Produced by Tom and Sam Barry, a smoky, meaty and spicy Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz red wine blend made from grapes sourced from the cool-climate Clare Valley. Look for rich blackberry, dark cherry, sweet cake spice, savoury herbs and cracked pepper on this big and generous Australian blend. - Community Wine Reviews
