Reviews and Ratings

Tania Thomas - CSW, WSET ADV rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Juicy blend of Bordeaux grapes; Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from Ontario’s Niagara. Full bodied, dry and fruit forward it’s bursting with aromas and flavours of ripe red berries and plums and a touch of mocha. Aged for six months in French and American oak, it’s well balanced with smooth tannins and long, lingering smoky finish. A perfect companion to slow cooked roasts, grilled meats and mature cheeses.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier reviewed this wine as follows:

Jackson-Triggs' Black Label Reserve Meritage (pronounced to rhyme with 'heritage') is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc from Niagara, Ontario. Medium ruby red in colour, the nose shows stewed plums, mulberry, bell pepper, and roasted herbs. Medium bodied, the palate is velvety smooth with delicate tannins making their debut after a finish of tangy plums, roasted peppers, and dried cranberry. Enjoy with mild cheese platters or seared rosemary lamb chops. at $13.95 this offers good value for a Meritage. Tasted November 2015. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
