Reviews and Ratings

Savoury with bacon fat and cedar smoke on the nose and palate of this full-bodied Washington Syrah. Full-bodied and supple. Perfect for lamb dishes. MINE: Hogue Genesis (2012) is a Syrah from the Columbia Valley in Washington State. Hogue Cellars was founded in 1982 by Mike and Gary Hogue. Columbia Valley is the largest of Washington State's wine growing regions, with almost 11 million acres. It encompasses a number of smaller regions, including Yakima Valley, Walla Walla Valley and Red Mountain OTHER: Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: Oodles of ripe mulberry, baking spice, forest floor and nicely integrated wood. Pair with seared elk chops with a black briar compote. 90 Points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com). OTHER: In the beginning, this Genesis was grown in the appellations of Horse Heaven Hills (88.5%), Snipes Mountain (9.5%) and Yakima Valley. It's brimming with blueberry, blackberry and black cherry wrapped in a soft, supple texture and will make a great pairing for beef tenderloin, or duck breast in a tangy red-wine-and-blueberry sauce. Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
