Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A beautifully crafted and balanced, dry, medium-plus-weight Viognier, heady with honeyed quince, pear, ginger, anise, jasmine aromas on the nose and downright sultry on the palate with summer florals, ripe red apple, fresh pear, ginger spice wrapped up with just a hint of minerality.

Hester Creek Estate Winery's single vineyard Viognier 2020 is produced from the winery's long time growers, the Fournier family, who are located in Oliver. The Stone’s Throw vineyard is just over 1,000 feet above sea level and near the well-known B.C. Black Sage Bench. Soils are a gravelly, sandy loam mix with excellent drainage for the vines and sun-loving grapes from the vineyard's north-south exposure. The wine was aged on its fine lees for four months concentrating aromatics and giving the wine a balanced weight, lithe and long with a viscous mouthfeel. Amazing value at $20. Tasted September 2021.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A beautiful, small-batch Viognier, showing delicate, yet fragrant aromas of peach, nectarine and honeysuckle, with a slight mineral hint. Medium+ bodied, with medium acidity, and a rich, soft texture, balanced with vibrant citrus notes and a slight floral hint. Enjoy with halibut or other firm white fish with citrus seasoning.
Crafted with premium fruit from two south Okanagan vineyards, both lots were destemmed, and full berry pressed, to best retain the acidity and delicacy of this pretty, yet powerful varietal. The wine displays abundant Bosc pear and Honeycrisp apple blossom with touches of lavender. The unoaked and lively palate is steely on entry, followed by ripe apricot and apple flavours, framed with a crisp acidity. Gorgeous aromatics and flavours, only 200 cases produced.
