Apricot and peach festival for the senses. Lovely Niagara icewine made from the Vidal grape. Try it with a fruit flan or cobbler.

Vidal Icewine food pairings: fresh fruit or fruit-based desserts and strong cheeses.

Reviews and Ratings

Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Bright gold in colour with aromas of candied melon, pineapple and apricot. The intense sweet melon flavours follow through on the palate and the viscous wine coats your mouth leading to a long, sweet melon finish. Personally I think Ice Wine should be enjoyed on it own, however this would pair nicely with fresh fruit or a light pastry.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Exceptional taste, long finish with persistence of apricot preserves, honey, orange blossom. Deeply concentrated and rich on the palate. Mouthwatering acidity. Well-balanced and well integrated alcohol. Declared 9.5% ABV. Drinks easily on it's own. This heavy weight would pair well with many desserts, Asian take out. It's a stand alone celebrity. I paired it with a hearty winter beef, barley and six mushroom stew and it stood its ground well. Tasted the 2013 vintage in Jan 2017. Rated 93/100. Loved it!
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Vidal holds the title for most planted icewine varietal. It's a thick skinned whote wine grape that can withstand the cold and botrytis (a benign mold that attacks grapes and concentrates flavour in many dessert wines). It's hardiness and productivity aside, Vidal can produce lovely spice and homey notes that offset and contrast the abundant fruit all icewines express.
This vidal is pretty full bodied - even for an icewine.
The colour runs from a luscious gold to a more watery lemon-yellow at the rim.
The aromas have a pungent musk melon and pineapple quality. Classic Vidal notes of honey and lemon candy.
The flavours are great. Buckwheat, honey, yellow plum, and lemon.
Pretty funky Vidal. Place it alongside a fruit flan with custard.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A rich cloying full-bodied Vidal Icewine summed down to orange blossom, candied orange, lemon honey and jammy apricot blast in a glass. It's yummy! Tasted Jan 2017 - @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
