Natalie's Score: 90/100

Blackberry liqueur richness on the nose and palate with black plum preserves, though this robust red wine doesn't come off as sweet. Black as night and just as mysteriously exciting. Full-bodied with layers of black velvet to caress your senses and imagination. Pair with hearty meat dishes and hearty love affairs. Syrah leads in this red wine blend that also has Grenache and Carignan grapes. Finishes with smoky-great blackberry and black raspberry notes. Try it with gourmet hamburgers.

Food pairings: hamburgers.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

An elegant Syrah, Grenache, Carignan blend offering cherry and blackberry aromatics that lead to a luscious palate of ripe cassis, blackberry, vanilla, slight oak, subtle spices, touch of pepper. Dry, very balanced and finely woven flavours with long complex finish. Terrific value for an exciting wine.
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A nicely crafted Langedoc red blend that hits the magical price point of $20. Syrah, Grenache and Carignan are harmoniously integrated producing opulent aromas and flavours of ripe red and black berries, plum, cassis, black pepper, warm baking spices and smoke. Lots of layers and nuance to this wine for the price. Acidity is medium(+) and balanced. This is worth buying a case. Medium(+) bodied and velvety mouthfeel. Loved it!
Tasted: January 2016
The vineyards for this southern French red wine face the Mediterranean Sea and are among the most ancient vineyards in the country: Languedoc, Roussillon and Provence. The wine is aged for 24 months in large oak casks and demi-muid, the traditional barrel of the Languedoc region of 600 litres. Syrah leads in this red wine blend that also has Grenache and Carignan grapes. Finishes with intense berry richness and dark spices. Produced by Gregory Hecht & François Bannier, this robust French red wine from the southern region of France is made mostly from Syrah grapes with a splash of Grenache grapes. Supple tannins, with attractive minerality. - Community Wine Reviews
