Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 100/100 with the following review:

Yum. Perfectly executed style for MacLaren Vale. Heavy on the shiraz blend of Shiraz/Grenache. It was aged in several different formats (hogshead, barrique, and heavy foudres) of oak to achieve balance. It has purity and aromatics. The sort of wine you put away and are surprised it kept so well.
Deep purple amd ruby.
Beatiful ffruity and floral aromas. Lavender, petunia, and earth. For the fruit, a lot of plum and cassis.
Lip-smacking and delicious. It is richly textures, but neither too much or cloying. Tons of red licorice, damson, vanilla, chocolate, sarsaparilla, and pepper.
A great barbecue wine to stock up on. It'll cellar easily for 5-7 years, but it is great now. Writer's choice.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

A mouthwatering blend from Aussie winemaking team Chris and John Hancock combines the best elements of both varietals, with aromatic cherry and rose petal from Grenache plus ripe plum, pepper, spice and hint of dark chocolate from Shiraz. Aromatic and delicious to the last drop. Enjoy with rosemary-crusted crown rack of lamb or venison.

Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Field berry aromas, predominantly blueberry and strawberry, with floral notes and hints of red licorice. On the palate, there are flavours of strawberry jam with black pepper at the finish. The acidity is fresh but not too tart, and the tannins are moderate.

Hancock & Hancock 2015 is a well priced 57% Shiraz and 43% Grenache, full-bodied red wine blend from the Home Vineyard in McLaren Vale, South Australia. The wine was aged in barrique, hogshead and large-format French oak. Look for ripe dark cherry, leathery and meaty notes on this Rhonish red. Pair with a lamb brisket. Also a good candidate for the cellar. Drink now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews
